Iran’s Customs Administration stated that the explosion took place at the Sina container yard, which operates under the Ports and Maritime Organization. The incident happened more than 1,000 kilometers south of the capital, Tehran.

According to the Tasnim News Agency, at least 47 people were injured in the blast. Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, Director of Hormozgan Province’s Crisis Management Organization, confirmed that the injured individuals have been transferred to medical facilities for treatment.

Earlier, Esmaeil Malekizadeh, an official from the Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Administration, reported that the explosion occurred near the dock area of Shahid Rajaei Port, which is a key hub for Iran’s container traffic and petrochemical exports.

Footage shared on social media showed a large plume of black smoke rising from the site of the explosion.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
