Sefine Shipyard, one of the leading shipbuilding and maritime companies in Türkiye, has appointed Faruk Toprak as its new Deputy General Manager for Newbuilding.

A graduate of Istanbul Technical University’s Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences in 2000, Toprak began his maritime career as a 3rd Engineer at Deniz Nakliyat. In 2003, he shifted to the shipbuilding industry, taking on key roles in production, engineering, and project management.

Throughout his career, Toprak has successfully overseen the construction of various vessel types, including passenger ships, fishing vessels, offshore support vessels, general cargo ships, and chemical tankers. Most recently, he served as Production Manager at Tersan Shipyard, a position he held since 2010.

Toprak is fluent in English and is expected to bring valuable technical expertise and project management skills to Sefine’s ongoing and future newbuilding initiatives.

Founded in 2007, Sefine Shipyard is a subsidiary of Sefine Denizcilik Tersanecilik Turizm San. ve Tic. A.Ş., operating under Koloğlu Holding. Located on a 250,000 m² site in Yalova-Altınova on the coast of the Marmara Sea, the shipyard is among Türkiye’s largest facilities.

Sefine specializes in new shipbuilding, repair/conversion, and large-scale steel structure projects. It operates the region’s largest dry dock with a 90,000 DWT Post-Panamax capacity, and two floating docks with 40,000 and 75,000-ton lifting capacities, respectively.

With a strong presence in the global market, Sefine exports vessels to Norway, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK, Estonia, and the Faroe Islands. The company is the world leader in the construction of live fish carrier vessels and continues to invest in advanced technologies, including autonomous and unmanned surface vehicles.

Having delivered over 50 vessels and exported products and services to 43 countries, Sefine was named Türkiye’s top shipbuilding exporter in the 2020 TİM Top 1000 Exporters report.
